Two weeks on my own.

After figuring out how to do this, I took the summer off. Or perhaps I didn't think I had too much going on. At any rate, I'm going to try to start fresh and get this going!

Saturday, my husband, Dale, departed for 2 weeks. This will be the longest he has been gone in recent memory, and is also the first time I have nothing to account for my time. To avoid falling into complete dissapation, the first thing I decided was to keep my usual wakeup and bedtime. Next I feel like I should have a good project--something to keep my interest and attention focused upon. Normally I would do some quilting project, but with the machine in the shop, that won't work. What to do?

Scrapbooking! I haven't worked on any of that for quite a while. I scrap in the same space as I quilt, and I have been really engrossed with stitching lately. First task: put away the quilting stuff. (easy enough) Second: get out the photos (yikes, they are all out of order) Third: Get the pics in order (for about the 3rd or 4th time, no less) Fourth: what shall I work on? Alaska or Hawaii? Hawaii has the appeal of lots of new supplies, but I really want to finish Alaska, as it has been over 3 years and I'm really behind. Kansas? Did I live there? Do I have to scrapbook that? LOL.

Alaska it is. I set aside the Hawaii photos and picked up the first pages worth of Alaska. Seems to be the big snowstorm just before Halloween 2007. I worked for 2-3 hours and got one 12x12 spread done and started on another. Then I remembered my problem: I can't do "creative" too close to bed--it stimulates my mind too much and I can't sleep. Yesterday, I didn't scrap at all. It wasn't all my fault! TNT had the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on and despite the fact that I own it, and could watch it commercial-free at any time, I sat in front of the tv and watched it anyway. I did hand applique, though, so something got accomplished.

Today I have to do some mundane things like get groceries and do laundry and then I plan to scrap some more. It always takes me a bit to get back in the 'mode' but once I get going, the momentum picks up. Maybe I can finish Alaska before Dale gets home! Or at least before Bernie gets out of the shop...
