I "ate my vegetables"

This morning, fellow quilter Kim West came over because we are both going to make this quilt. It is called Pineapple Tidbits and is a Buggy Barn pattern. We hand dyed fabric for it and did a lot of chatting while we cut the pieces. We talked about quilting, the military (it turns out that the navy isn't that different from the army), fabric, future quilting projects, the fact that the military doesn't give us enough weight allowance for our fabric and supplies, etc. Time flew by!

After she went home and I had lunch, all I wanted to do was delve right in and start playing with the pineapples, but I had another quilt top I was trying to finish. I had 2 inner borders and all 4 outer borders to attach and it wasn't going well, as the inner border involved the bias and it stretched maybe 3 inches, so I had to get that all eased back in. I knuckled down though, and got it finished and it even lays flat! Here it is. It is the Granny Squares quilt that was featured on the cover of American Patchwork and Quilting a couple months ago.

So, I'm quite proud of myself that I "ate my veggies" first before hitting the dessert. Tomorrow? Pineapple upside down cake!
