Dyeing again

It is all in the spelling... There is nothing like announcing to a room full of uninformed people that you can't wait to dye! But, it had been days, maybe even a week since I was able to dye some fabric so yesterday I got to it! It is just consuming me--I can't get enough of mixing colors and varying things and seeing the results. I CAN get enough of washing out ziplock bags, though. That is my least favorite part, but I willingly put up with it so I can dye again. (Gosh, the pun potential just goes on and on! I think there has to be a clever tee shirt slogan out there. Maybe "I live to dye!")

The photo above is one of my fun experiments where I use leftovers to see what I get. The picture is not well lit, the fabric is pink/raspberry and what looks like gray is actually purple.
For some reason, I am just fascinated with Blue Green. I'm not sure exactly why, maybe it is the color of the ocean here? At any rate, I fooled around with blue green again. The 4 on the left have some red in them to gray them up a bit. The 4 in the middle are a slightly greener hue, and the ones on the right are more blue.

I mixed up a dark red for the project that follows, so I decided to do some even steps lighting it up. They came out such a fabulous shade of raspberry. Yum. I would love to use these with some brown and cream for a Neapolitan Ice Cream quilt. I copied my friend, Kim, who dyed 11" squares so afterward she could trim them up to 10" squares. In quilt talk, a stack of 10" squares is called a "layer cake" and there are lots of layer cake friendly patterns out there.

Finally, there is this. At the Tuesday Bee, Irene was working on some shibori (a Japanese technique in dyeing). I sort of learned the basics and so I had to try it. I did a star with "star shine" radiating out. I think it turned out great! Now I see I am going to need even more fabric.
